Canoe-Picnic Point State Park

Canoe-picnic point state park is only reachable by boat, offering a quiet camping experience in a wooded area with plenty of dock space available. just south of the camping area is picnic point, a picnic ground with a beautiful picnic gazebo, shore dinner cooking facility and dockage. the fishing is excellent.

Captree State Park

Captree state park lies at the eastern tip of jones beach island in the heart of the fishing grounds. captree is a fisherman's haven and a picnicker's delight. the park features a boat basin with open and charter boats available for fishing, as well as scuba diving, sightseeing and excursion boats.

Catharine Valley Trail

This year round recreation trail provides visitors the opportunity to experience the scenic beauty and historic charm of the glacially-carved valley south of seneca lake. following abandoned railroad and canal towpath corridors, the trail passes through a variety of wildlife habitats. the compact stone-dust trail surface accommodates walking, bicycling, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. currently six miles of the trail is available for use. when construction is complete the trail will be twelve miles long and extending from the village of watkins glen to horseheads.

Caumsett State Historic Park

Caumsett state historic park, situated on a scenic peninsula extending into long island sound, offers miles of bridle paths, walking, jogging, hiking, biking, cross-country skiing and nature trails over acres of woodland, meadows, rock shoreline and salt marsh. the park has beautiful gardens, excellent fishing and scuba diving by permit. in 1921 marshall field iii purchased 1750 acres of lloyd neck to create one large estate. he named the land after its matinecock indian name, caumsett, which means "place by a sharp rock."

Cayuga Lake State Park

Cayuga lake state park's terrain is flat at lakeshore, where the beach and sun lawns are, then slopes gently uphill to campsites and cabins. the scenic highlight of the park is its expansive view of cayuga lake. in the shallow water near the park, largemouth bass, bullheads and carp thrive. in deeper water, anglers can catch northern pike, small mouth bass, lake trout, landlocked salmon and many other varieties of fish. the park has a boat launch, playground, playing field.

Chenango Valley State Park

Chenango valley state park is an ice age wonder. its two kettle lakes, lily and chenango, were created when the last glacier retreated and left behind huge chunks of buried ice which melted to form the lakes, and bog. birdwatchers may glimpse woodpeckers, nut hatches, warblers and thrushes along woodland trails and herons, ducks and kingfishers lakeside. fishermen will find trout, bass, perch and bullhead in chenango lake. campers can choose from among 185 campsites and 24 cabins and golfers will appreciate the 18-hole chenango valley state park golf course. sledding and cross-country ski trails attract visitors in winter. the edge trail is accessible.

Cherry Plain State Park

Cherry plain state park has 175 acres and features a sandy beach on black river pond, with bathhouse and comfort station nearby. picnic grounds and a boat launch are adjacent to the beach. the park also has bridle paths and hiking, biking and nature trails that serve for cross-country skiing in winter. anglers fish for bass, bullheads and pickerel and may also ice fish in winter.

Chimney Bluffs State Park

Chittenango Falls State Park

A picturesque 167 foot waterfall is the main attraction of chittenango falls state park! glacial sculpting over 400 million year-old bedrock is responsible for this scenic feature. an interesting variety of both plants and wildlife may be found along the trails. visitors can view the falls from the top, walk the winding trail into the gorge view the falls from the footbridge and return to the top along the small trail on the opposite side of the gorge. activities include fishing, hiking and picnicking.

Clark Reservation State Park

Clark reservation state park is a geologic wonder of the last ice age and a botanist's paradise. the park's natural features include rugged cliffs and rocky outcrops, woodland and meadow, a wetland and a glacial plunge basin lake in which the surface waters and bottom waters do not mix. fishermen can catch pickerel, bullheads and sunfish; while birdwatchers may observe cedar waxwings, kingfishers and woodpeckers. guided nature walks leave from the nature center building, which also offers numerous exibits. hikers may choose from five trails, including the cliff trail, which has a ledge overlook 175 feet above the water.

Clay Pit Ponds State Park Preserve

Clay pit ponds state park preserve is a 260-acre nature preserve near the southwest shore of staten island. it contains a variety of unique habitats, such as wetlands, ponds, sand barrens, spring-fed streams and woodlands. the preserve is managed to retain its unique ecology and to provide educational and recreational opportunities for people of all ages. evidences of the leni lenape indians, european settlers and the free blacks of sandy ground provide a rich cultural history. educational programs, such as nature walks, pond ecology, birdwatching and tree and flower identification, are offered, as are many activities geared to school children. school and group programs are also welcome by advance registration. in addition, visitors may picnic or hike on designated trails. horseback riding is also permitted on over 5 miles of bridal paths. please note that horses are not available to rent.

Cold Spring Harbor State Park

Connetquot River State Park Preserve

Connetquot river state park preserve maintains 3,473 acres of land and water for the protection and propagation of game birds, fish and animals. deer and waterfowl are numerous, rare nesting birds, including the osprey, are present and there are numerous rare plants, such as trailing arbutus and pyxie moss in their natural habitats. the preserve also has 50 miles of hiking, horseback riding, cross-country ski and nature trails, as well as fishing (by permit only) on the connetquot river.

Cumberland Bay State Park

Cumberland bay state park, on the west shore of lake champlain, is a very popular day-use area because of its large natural sand beach and picnic grounds with tables and grills. the park has a playground and playing fields. cross-country runners frequent the park in the fall.

Darien Lakes State Park

Darien lakes state park's terrain is hilly with woodlands, ravines, streams and 12-acre harlow lake. the park has a total of 158 campsites (equipped with electricity) with heated comfort stations and showers, a sandy beach, playgrounds, fishing for largemouth black bass, hiking and horseback riding trails, picnic areas and a rustic bridge over the lake channel to picnic island. in winter, multiple-use trails are open for hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling and a maintained and heated building for an outdoor skating rink. darien also has two picnic shelters available for a fee by reservation only.

Delta lake state park is located on a peninsula extending into delta reservoir. you'll find the terrain is wooded and generally flat. year-round visitors can enjoy the day in one of many picnic areas, or on one of the many hiking and nature trails. there is also a boat launch and shoreline fishing for trout, pike, bass, bullhead and perch. campers can enjoy 101 tent, trailer or rv camping sites and there is a sandy beach with swimming in the summer. for winter visitors there are cross-country ski trails.
