Eel Weir State Park

Eel weir state park is located on the oswegatchie river two miles from black lake. both waterways are known for excellent bass fishing and are ideal for canoes or rowboats. as it is small and secluded, the park is a perfect place to get away from it all. thirty-eight campsites are available, as are a picnic area and pavilion.

Evangola state park's major attraction is its beautiful arc-shaped shoreline and natural sand beach on lake erie. low cliffs of angola shale line the edge of the beach. in addition to swimming, the park has picnic facilities, baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts and 80 campsites.

Clarence fahnestock memorial state park is a delight for outdoor enthusiasts. this 14,086 acre park, covering land in putnam and dutchess counties, boasts hiking trails, a beautiful beach, picnic areas, scenic campground, and abundant opportunities for boating, hunting, fishing, and birding. the park is also home to the taconic outdoor education center which provides high quality environmental programming and fahnestock winter park which includes 15 kilometers of groomed trails for cross country skiing and snowshoeing.

Situated in the heart of the hudson valley, the park is nestled in the 16,000 acre clarence fahnestock memorial state park. fwp offers 15 km of machine groomed, tracked and mapped trails for beginning and expierenced skiers and snowshoers. families find the park particularly enjoyable because it offers easy terrain to ski on near the lodge. the sledding hill and hot chocolate to sip in front of the outdoor fireplace are nice compliments to day-long trips.

Fair haven beach state park is located in upstate new york on the eastern portion of the lake ontario shoreline. it has one of the finest public lakefronts in upstate new york, with towering shoreline bluffs, sandy beaches and adjoining hilly woodlands. the park features 1500 feet of beautiful sand beach including 600 feet of guarded swim area. inland, sterling pond and creek are centrally located amongst the geological transition between woods and water.

Fillmore Glen State Park

Fillmore glen state park is an oasis of cool, dense woods crowding into a long, narrow gorge. its hiking trails offer spectacular views, unique geological formations, including five waterfalls, and a botanically rich glen. the park has 60 campsites, a stream-fed swimming pool and fishing in the owasco lake inlet. in the winter, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowmobiling are permitted on unplowed roads.

Fort Niagara State Park

Fort niagara state park has two boat launches providing access to the lower niagara river and lake ontario, woodland hiking trails, swimming pools, waterslide, a view of lake ontario, picnic grounds, playgrounds, water fowl hunting, 18 soccer fields. in winter, visitors can cross-country ski, snowshoe, and sled. the park is adjacent to old fort niagara state historic site.

Four Mile Creek State Park

Four mile creek state park is located just 15 minutes north of the mighty niagara falls. the 275 campsites average 50' x 50' in size and feature both shady and sunny settings. available services range from 10 50 amp sites and 121 30 amp sites to 144 non-electric sites accommodating the biggest rig to the most primitive tent site. 21 prime sites, electric or non-electric, are located near the shores of lake ontario and offer spectacular panoramic views. the park has hiking trails for campers along the densely wooded bluffs. the marsh at the mouth of four mile creek is home to fauna such as great blue herons, white tail deer and to flora such as stunning white trillium and greenbrier. a camp store is located at four mile creek. laundry facilities are located at comfort stations in the 100 and 200 areas. a modern playground is centrally located in the park.

A scenic haven approximately 40 miles from new york city, franklin d. roosevelt state park offers day trippers a day of fun and relaxation. the park's spacious picnic areas, which can accommodate individual families as well as large groups, may be reserved in advance. the park's mammoth pool can hold 3,500 bathers at one time! in addition the park offers a host of other activities for people of all ages to enjoy.

Gantry plaza state park is a 12-acre riverside oasis that boasts spectacular views of the midtown manhattan skyline, including the empire state building and the united nations. enjoy a relaxing stroll along the park's four piers or through the park's manicured gardens and unique mist fountain. along the way take a moment to admire the rugged beauty of the park's centerpieces - restored gantries. these industrial monuments were once used to load and unload rail car floats and barges; today they are striking reminders of our waterfront's past. with the city skyline as a backdrop and the gantries as a stage, the park's plaza is a wonderful place to enjoy a spring or summer concert. recreational facilities include basketball courts, playgrounds, handball courts, and a fishing pier with its own cleaning table.

Gilbert lake state park's lake and three ponds lie in wooded, hilly terrain in the foothills of the catskills. in addition to cabins and campsites, the park has more than 12 miles of interconnecting trails for hikers, skiers, snowmobilers and snowshoers. playgrounds and a disc golf course, as well as swimming, boat rentals, boating (car top/hard bottom boats with permit only) and fishing are also featured.

Gilgo State Park

Gilgo state park is located on a barrier beach on the south shore of long island, with atlantic ocean and great south bay frontage. access to the park is via 4 wheel drive only and requires a permit. the park is a carry in/ carry out facility. spectacular views and tranquility make this a popular destination. the park is undeveloped.anglers enjoy surf fishing in the atlantic ocean. fishing is abundant in the fall during the stripe bass migration. anglers may also catch blue fish and a variety of salt-water species.the park is also actively managed for the protection of the piping plover and sea beach amaranth. stewards monitor the natural resources and provide education to visitors regarding habitat management.

New!  returning again this year to glimmerglass state park is the popular nature explorer children's program for ages 5-12. stop at the park office or nature center to get your new 2011 booklet and learn about the abundant nature and wildlife the park offers. complete the activities in the booklet at the park either individually or in a group and return it to the park office to obtain your 2011 explorer pin anytime during the 2011 park season. completion of the educational activities can happen in one day or several visits.

Golden Hill State Park

Golden hill state park was acquired by new york state in 1962. the thirty mile lighthouse, decommissioned by the u.s. coast guard in 1958, is part of the park and is available for rental year-round. this landmark has a rich history which can be enjoyed by visitors of the park, through the friends of thirty mile point lighthouse. the lighthouse originally provided keepers and assistant keepers family quarters. golden hill state park offers camping, fishing, boating, shoreline hiking, picnicking, nature walks and walking tours of the lighthouse site. summer events at the park are numerous. winter activities are also available, including snowshoeing and five miles of snowmobile trails that run through the park.

Grafton lakes state park, on the forested mountain ridge between the taconic and hudson valleys, includes five ponds and 2,357 acres. long pond has a large, sandy beach, which is a popular summer attraction. anglers can go after rainbow and brown trout in long, second and shaver pond. pickerel, perch, and bass are abundant in all ponds including mill pond and walleye are found at the martin-durham reservoir. all ponds have launch facilities for canoes, sailboats and rowboats, electric boat are allowed. visitors also picnic, walk the nature trails, and hike, bike or ride horses along the 25 miles of park trails.

Grass Point State Park

Grass point state park is on a point of land that projects into the american channel of the st. lawrence river, known for some of the best fishing in the country. the park is a popular spot for campers and day-users, who come to boat, swim, fish, picnic, or just to relax. there is a marina and boat launch, an area is available for games, and the sandy beach and shallow water are excellent for children.located on the west side of the beach is the grass point cottage, a full service accommodation. the two-story cottage has a bathroom with shower, kitchen with refrigerator, stove, microwave, cooking and eating utensils. bedding, pillows and linen are also provided. the screened-in porch has some outstanding views of the river and sunsets.

Green Lakes State Park

Green lakes state park's outstanding features are its two glacial lakes surrounded by upland forest. both round and green lakes are meromictic lakes, which means that there is no fall and spring mixing of surface and bottom waters. such lakes have a high potential for evidence of ancient plant and animal life. another special feature of the park is the 18-hole green lakes state park golf course designed by robert trent jones, where visitors can snowshoe in winter, and there are 10 miles of trails that cross-country skiers can use.

Jamesport state park has a total of 525 pristine acres. 225-acres are state park and 300-acres are used by local farmers, to ensure preservation of the land and to prevent future development. jamesport state park is a shorefront park that offers nearly 1-mile of pristine beach front on the north shore of long island along the long island sound.

Hempstead Lake State Park

Hempstead lake state park is a multi use facility. included are 20 tennis courts, children's playgrounds, basketball courts, bridle trails for horse back riding, biking and hiking trails, shaded picnic areas and a historic hand carved wooden carousel. there is a picnic pavilion available for large parties. in addition to a pavilion rented through the permit department, hempstead offers rental of the carousel party-room done in-house at the park. for a rental fee of $350.00 for a three hour event, guests are also offered unlimited carousel rides during their event.
