Silver Lake State Park

Silver lake state park provides a boat launch facility for boating and fishing on the lake. the area also has picnic facilities and a comfort station which is open year round. the upland section of the park is available for hunting in season by permit.

Southwick Beach State Park

Southwick beach state park is spacious and popular, known for outstanding swimming and sunning on its long sandy beach. campers and day-users enjoy picnicking, hiking and games on the playing fields. the park is adjacent to the lakeview wildlife management area, home to the environmentally-sensitive coastal sand dunes. park nature, hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing trails adjoin the wildlife management area and its trail system, which visitors are encouraged to use. during the winter, snowmobilers are permitted in the park. deer hunting is allowed south of the park entrance in season.

State Park at the Fair

While visiting the new york state fair this summer be sure to stop at the state park at the fair and sample some of our programs in an oasis-like park setting around the reflecting pool in front of the horticulture building. while the state park at the fair is the smallest park within the new york state office of parks, recreation and historic preservation agency, it offers fun for all ages. it highlights the many interpretive and recreational opportunities available throughout the 178 state parks and 36 state historic sites in new york. come share hands-on activities and explore interesting demonstrations and exhibits. our mini-golf course is an annual family favorite.

Sterling Forest State Park

Sterling forest state park comprises 21,935.08 acres of nearly pristine natural refuge amidst of one of the nation's most densely populated areas, a remarkable piece of woodland, a watershed for millions, and a tremendous outdoor recreation area. this unbroken deep-forest habitat is important for the survival of many resident and migratory species, including black bear, a variety of hawks and songbirds and many rare invertebrates and plants. hunting, fishing and hiking opportunities are available.

St. Lawrence State Park Golf Course

Originally owned by five area golfers as a private 9-hole club more than 75 years ago, st. lawrence state park golf course was purchased by the state in the mid 1960s. with its long, sweeping hills and pond, the course was designed to incorporate the panoramic view of the st. lawrence river shipping channel and the canadian shore. the vista can be seen from the fairways and from the clubhouse veranda. this 9-hole course can be played twice from different tees for an 18-hole round.

Stony Brook State Park

Stony brook state park swimming area is closed. campers may use the north swimming pool at letchworth state park. campers may enter the park for free with their camping permit, but the pool fee is $2 for adults and $1 for children. the pool is located 20 miles from stony brook. we apologize for the inconvenience.

Sunken meadow state park, located on long island sound, has a wide range of topography that sustains a variety of flora and fauna. the three miles of beach meets tall, glacier-formed bluffs at the west end of the shoreline. a man-made dam separates the park's brackish creek and marshes from the tidal flats. south of the flats are acres of undeveloped and heavily-wooded rolling hills.

Taconic State Park - Copake Falls Area

Tallman Mountain State Park

Tallman mountain state park comprises wooded country on the easterly slope of the palisades uplands overlooking the hudson and piermont marsh, which lies between the river and the slope. the marsh is part of the hudson river national estuarine research reserve. the park operates as a day-use area, offering a swimming pool, running track, tennis courts, playfield, cross country skiing, a walking trail, hiking and picnic areas.

Taughannock Falls State Park

Taughannock falls state park's namesake waterfall is one of the outstanding natural attractions of the northeast. taughannock falls plunges 215 feet past rocky cliffs that tower nearly 400 feet above the gorge. gorge and rim trails offer spectacular views from above the falls and from below at the end of the gorge trail. campsites and cabins overlook cayuga lake, with marina, boat launch and beach nearby. a multi-use trail--hiking, cross-country skiing--winds past sledding slopes and natural skating ponds. boat launch site not suitable for any type of sailboat. the park also offers organized activities including tours through the taughannock gorge and summer concerts along the lakefront.

Thacher State Park (John Boyd Thacher)

John boyd thacher state park, is situated along the helderberg escarpment, one of the richest fossil-bearing formations in the world. even as it safeguards six miles of limestone cliff-face, rock-strewn slopes, woodland and open fields, the park provides a marvelous panorama of the hudson-mohawk valleys and the adirondack and green mountains. the park has volleyball courts, playgrounds, ball fields and numerous picnic areas with nine reservable shelters. interpretive programs are offered year-round, including guided tours of the famous indian ladder trail. there are over twelve additional miles of trails for summer hiking and mountain biking, and winter cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and snowmobiling.

Thompson's Lake State Park

Thompson's lake state park, nestled in the mountains just four miles from the helderberg escarpment, is a popular camping ground and recreation area. in addition to 140 wooded campsites, the park comprises a sandy beach, mixed hardwood and conifer forests, limestone outcroppings and open fields. recreational opportunities include a volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a playing field, swingsets, carry-in boat access, rental row boats, fishing areas, and nature trails. interpretive and recreational programs are offered for campers throughout the summer. during the winter, visitors can cross-country ski and ice fish.

Trail view is a 400-acre, 7.4-mile linear park that serves as a link along the nassau/suffolk greenbelt trail that extends from cold spring harbor state park on the north shore of suffolk county to bethpage state park, and eventually to the south shore of nassau county.

Valley Stream State Park

Valley stream state park is a day-use picnic facility next to a highly-developed residential area. the park offers picnic areas with tables, fireplaces and grills; children's play areas; horseshoe, volleyball, basketball, bocce ball courts; ball fields; nature trails, and cross-country ski trails. the squirrel nut and hickory nut nature trails give children the opportunity to explore the various habitats within the park. the park has a walking course, a half-mile loop with 15 stations, at which walkers can complete a variety of stretching and strengthening exercises. it is a unique outdoor exercise adventure with a focus on cardiovascular fitness, vitality and longevity for all ages.

Verona Beach State Park

Verona beach state park, located on the eastern shore of oneida lake, is a picnicker's and camper's delight. shaded picnic areas and the campground are adjacent to the beach with an excellent view of the water. the lake, black creek, cattail marshes, and bottomland hardwood swamps give verona beach one of the most diverse aquatic habitats in the central region, and well worth a hike on the "woods and wetland" nature trail. the winter season hosts snowmobilers, cross-country skiers and ice fishermen. the eastern portion of the park is open for hunting deer, small game, and waterfowl, in season.

Waterson Point State Park

Waterson point state park is small and picturesque, ideal for the fisherman and boating enthusiast who wishes to escape the hustle and bustle of the larger parks. the two docks provide overnight and day dockage for 30 boats as well as a comfort station (toilets only). the park also has picnic facilities, including a century old gazebo and access to shoreline fishing.

Watkins Glen State Park

Watkins glen state park is the most famous of the finger lakes state parks, with a reputation for leaving visitors spellbound. within two miles, the glen's stream descends 400 feet past 200-foot cliffs, generating 19 waterfalls along its course. the gorge path winds over and under waterfalls and through the spray of cavern cascade. rim trails overlook the gorge. campers and day-visitors can enjoy the olympic-size pool, scheduled summer tours through the gorge, tent and trailer campsites, picnic facilities and excellent fishing in nearby seneca lake or catherine creek, which is renowned for its annual spring run of rainbow trout.

Wellesley Island State Park

Wellesley island state park has the largest camping complex in the thousand islands region. secluded wilderness sites nestled along the banks of the st. lawrence river are accessible only by foot or boat. within this rustic paradise, fishing is excellent--particularly for muskie in autumn. to accommodate boaters, the park has a full service marina and four boat launches. a sandy beach on the river offers great swimming and sunbathing and there is a recreation barn and the 9-hole Wellesley Island State Park Golf Course on the island.

Westcott Beach State Park

Westcott beach state park is a popular day-use and camping park on lake ontario, with rolling, wooded hills and open, grassy meadows sheltered by henderson bay. it offers restful campsites located on a bluff, from which the view is spectacular. a small marina is adjacent to the long, sandy beach to accommodate anglers interested in lake ontario's excellent black bass fishing. the park also has a children's playground, picnic areas and hiking trails that do winter duty for cross-country skiing.

Whetstone Gulf State Park

Whetstone gulf state park is built in and around a three-mile-long gorge cut into the eastern edge of the tug hill plateau. the gorge is one of the most spectacular scenic vistas east of the rocky mountains. the park has 56 wooded campsites- some of which are electric, a scenic picnic area along whetstone creek, a man-made swimming area and trails for hiking and cross-country skiing, one of which circles the gorge. above the gorge is whetstone reservoir, stocked with tiger muskie and large-mouth bass for fishermen, and popular for canoeing.
